Charles Eugene Bridgette
Charles Eugene Bridgette, 91, of Sissonville passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at CAMC Memorial surrounded by his loving family.
Charles was born May 2, 1925 in Oak Hill; he was the third child of Raymond and Amanda Bridgette. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Theater, where he received many awards for his service to his country. He retired from C&P Telephone Company with 42 years of service as a trouble shooter and installer repairman. Charles was a life long parishioner of Aldersgate Methodist Church and a lifetime Methodist Men member. He was a lifetime sports fan. He loved baseball, basket ball, and a loyal WVU fan.
Charles was a lifetime loyal member of the Lions Club. He received the highest award, the Leonard Jarrett Award of WV Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation. He held the office as President twice in the Sissonville Lions Club.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and David Bridgette.
Charles loved his family dearly. He leaves behind wife, Emma Lou Bridgette of 69 years. They were married on May 15, 1947 in Groves, Texas. She is the former Emma Lou Grudlier. He also leaves behind a sister, Eleanor Day; sons, Randy Bridgette and his wife Mary Bridgette, and Gary Bridgette and his wife, Donna Bridgette; grandsons, Barry Bridgette (Becky), and Matthew Bridgette (Stacy); great grandchildren, Anthony, Emma, Jackson, Margret and Charlotte, Lydia, and Amelia.
A special thank you to devoted grandson, Tyler Bridgette, who put his own life on hold to care, transport, and provide daily support to his beloved grandfather.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Aldersgate Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to service. Rev. Loretta Isaiah will be officiating.
Interment will immediately follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories with military rites.
