Orla Garnet Kelly
Orla Garnet Kelly, 95, of Charleston passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Cedar Ridge Nursing Center.
Born in Walton, WV; she was one of nine children to the late Franklin and Elfie Kelly. Orla was valedictorian of her class of Walton High School and a graduate of Charleston Business College. She worked for 58 years as a secretary; her last 35 years were spent working for Kay, Casto, and Chaney Law Firm where she retired. Orla loved to travel with her sister Ruth, where she visited around 40 states. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Orla was a long time member of First Advent Christian Church.
Orla will be missed by her loving sister Ruth Kelly Lanham; nieces, Patty Humphreys Cottrell (with whom she had a special relationship), Libby Lanham Miller, Linda Kelly Flunker, and Karen Kelly Becker; nephews, Frank E. Lanham, Carlos Brown, Charles Brown, Claude Brown, Clyde Brown, and Albert “Bud” Humphreys; special great nephews, Eugene and Stewart Cottrell; and other great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Orla is preceded in death by her sisters, Sada Humphreys, Anne Brown and Ada Kelly (infant); brothers, Henry Kelly, Walter Kelly, Edward Kelly, and Franklin Kelly (infant).
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor George Webb and Pastor Stewart Cottrell will be officiating.
Interment will begin at 3pm at Rocky Branch Cemetery in Walton, WV.
