Obituary for
Re. William Joseph "Bill" Asbury Sr.
Rev. William “Bill” Joseph Asbury, Sr. of Charleston passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.
He was the son of the late Charles and Thelma Asbury. Bill was a member of the Derricks Creek Community Church and Old Faith Gospel Church. He enjoyed fishing at his river lot, traveling back roads with his loving wife, and loved his job with Bonham Dairy which is spoke of fondly. Bill was a member of Local Teamster Union.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Eugene Asbury, and sister, Phyllis Jean Warfield.
Bill will be missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Edna Asbury; children, William “Bill” J. Asbury, Jr. (Tara), Rita Faye Haynes, Debbie “Somi” Lee Thaxton, and Donald “Todd” Eugene Asbury; sisters, Aquillia “Gal” Arlene Harrison and Dorothy “Dotty” Jane Harrison; brothers, James Robert Asbury, Paul “Podgie” Roger Asbury (Naomi), Larry Keith Asbury, Danny Franklin Asbury (Sandy), and Richard Rexford Asbury (Jean); seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service. Rev. Travis Asbury will be officiating. Burial will be at Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
